A native of Paris, France, André Brégégère (b. 1975) graduated from the Berklee College of Music (BM, 2005) and the Aaron Copland School of Music (MA, 2008) where he studied composition with Bruce Saylor. Since 2008, he has been a doctoral candidate at the Graduate Center of the  City University of New York, studying composition with Jeff Nichols, and serving as a teaching fellow at Queens College, Flushing.

As a composer, His music has been commissioned and/or performed in the US by ensembles including Cygnus, Second Instrumental Unit, MIVOS quartet, Cadillac Moon Ensemble, and Lunatics at Large, in venues such as Carnegie-Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space, or the Institute and Festival for Contemporary Performance at Mannes. Mr. Brégégère’s work has also been recognized with several awards, including the George Perle Composition Prize (2008), and the Charles Mingus Composition Award (2005). His upcoming projects include a new song cycle commissionned as part of Dr Faustus's upcoming New Art Songs project, to be premiered in May 2012, and a commission from trombonist David Whitwell and the Ensemble Moto Perpetuo for a piece for trombone and organ, to be premiered this coming June.

A founding member of Dr. Faustus, Mr. Brégégère has also been involved for the past three years in the organization and promotion of new music concerts in NYC, in collaboration with fellow composer Inés Thiebaut.

Mr. Brégégère is a member of ASCAP.

As a composer, Mr. Brégégère’s work has been recognized with several awards, including the George Perle Composition Prize (2008), and the Charles Mingus Composition Award (2005). His music have been commissioned and/or performed in the US by ensembles including, Cygnus, Cadillac Moon, Duo Romi, MIVOS quartet, Lunatics at Large, and Second Instrumental Unit. His quartet, Vol de nuit, was featured at the ACA festival in June 2008. His piece for mixed chamber ensemble, Sanctuary, commissioned by Lunatics at Large for the 'Sanctuary Project' (2010), was premiered at Carnegie-Weill Hall on  March 21st, 2011. His latest work, Petite suite for piano was premiered during the Institute & Festival for Contemporary Performance (IFCP) at Mannes on June 22nd, 2011.
